Montgenèvre … an authentic village resort on the Italian border

At the foot of the slopes between 1860 m and 2700 m altitude, Montgenèvre is a village resort where life is good. The traditional mountain charm of the resort center, combined with the surrounding wooded and undulating peaks, create a balance that is both soothing and dynamic.

Montgenèvre is located on the Italian border and benefits from a connection to the fifth largest international French-Italian alpine ski area: La Voie Lactée or Via Lattea. This covers over 400 km of pistes linking Cesana, Sestrière, Pragelato, Sansicario, Sauze d’Oulx and Oulx. The Montgenèvre ski area is linked to the Les Monts de la Lune ski area, providing a ski-in ski-out link to the internationally renowned La Voie Lactée ski area.

Montgenèvre is France’s oldest ski resort, created in 1907 to host the first international ski jumping competition. Since then, Montgenèvre has established itself as one of the most user-friendly international resorts, with facilities that have been maintained and renewed, notably in 2006 thanks to the Turin Olympic Games.

The ski area benefits from a very favorable geographical location and orientation: it is renowned for the quality of its snow cover, with a total of 8 meters in 2009 and 5 months of skiing a year! Montgenèvre is the first resort to open its ski area every winter!

We’d love to find fault, but Montgenèvre is also an exceptionally sunny resort, typical of the Southern Alps, with 300 days of sunshine a year!
